As we begin a new
year at St. Andrew’s we do so with some changes.
Change can be embraced, rejected, or treated with
indifference. Change
is very much a part of our lives and nothing can stop change
from taking place. The
real question when we face change is do we face it with faith or
fear? A quick look
through the gospels reveals the tremendous changes that Jesus
introduced to people. There
were people who were afraid of change and those who were willing
to listen to what Jesus had to say and embrace changes that
helped them grow in their faith.
As we look at
scripture we know that God works through time and change.
Our divine/human history reveals the many ways that God
helps humanity understand itself and understand the
kingdom
of
God
. The Bible
illustrates that God works through history to accomplish God’s
plans and that the Bible is not only a history of divine action
in the world, it is also a divine book with a history of its
own.
I pray that during this new year, as the changes in the
church and in your life unfold, that you will face each with
faith. When we
trust in God, and believe in God’s Word, and rely upon God’s
truth, we will never be disappointed.
Grace
and Peace,
