Where
have the past two months gone?
I apologize for being behind in my articles.
In the month of June following annual conference I was
blessed to help see my dad relocated to an awesome retirement
center.
He is now settled in and enjoying the amenities offered by
a less stressful life.
As far as July, it was here and now it is gone.
Where did it go?
Again, my apologies.
Now
it is August and in just a couple of weeks, school systems across
the area will be opening their doors to a new school year.
The beginning of school is a time of excitement, joy, and
often, a little fear.
For our children starting school for the first time, there
is that walk into a new chapter of their lives. Parents will be
leaving sons and daughters in the care of educators to learn and
explore the surrounding world.
If
our children are returning to school, they have a sense of what to
expect and balance the joy of new school supplies to the
trepidation of wrestling with difficult classes.
If we are seeing children off to college, especially for
the first time, the fear is often greater for the parent rather
than the offspring.
It is a mixture of pride for what our children have
accomplished and the realization that the world can often be a
difficult place.
We send them into the future with the values, ethics, and
character that we have been able to instill in their lives, all
wrapped in prayer, and commended to God.
In the midst of parental emotions for our children, I also
want us to remember the many dedicated educators in private and
public schools.
School wouldn’t be school without the dedication and
determination of good teachers, aides, volunteers, and
administrators.
May we keep them in our prayers as they continue the work
entrusted to their care, using the gifts that God has given, to
lead our children to new understanding.
Learning is a life-long process and for the opportunities
to learn and grow in the
kingdom
of
God
, let us give thanks!
Grace
and Peace,
Pastor
