New Member Luncheon Team Information

SERVICE AREA: Fellowship
COUNCIL CHAIRPERSON 2006: Dee Reasoner

“It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up. “ Ephesians 4:11-12

SERVICE TITLE:
New Member Luncheon

PURPOSE:
The purpose is to ensure that new members are served a luncheon and welcomed to our church. These luncheons are held on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. They usually occur at noon on the first Sunday of the month.

DEFINITION OF DUTIES:
The New Member Luncheon Team Leader will maintain contact with the church office on a monthly basis. About two weeks prior to the luncheon, the church office will mail out invitations. One week prior to the luncheon a designated volunteer should call each new member family. During this call they welcome the new member, find out whether they will be attending the luncheon or not, and then get a headcount for how many adults and children will be attending the luncheon. The volunteers also contact each Church Council member to confirm whether or nor they will be attending the luncheon. Historically, about 75% of people who say they will attend the luncheon actually do attend the luncheon. The Team Leader or a designated volunteer makes arrangements for the church room, tables and chairs. The luncheon is usually held in the 8th grade classroom. The volunteers prepare the food for the luncheon. They also set up the serving table, assist with serving the food, and clean up after the luncheon.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong organizational skills; leadership skills; ability to prepare meals for 30-40 people; Spiritual gifts of service and hospitality; should be able to cook, cater, serve and clean up

CONTACT PERSON:
Jennifer Zamboni (817) 472-5252 or joeandjenn@yahoo.com

TIME COMMITMENT:
A new member luncheon occurs approximately every other month. If the team leader caters the luncheon, about 1 hour will be spent calling the new members. About 6 hours will be spent shopping, cooking and serving the meal. In the past, the team leader has catered some meals and has recruited individuals to cater other meals. When someone else caters the meal, the only time involved is recruiting the cook for that luncheon.

TRAINING:
Training will consist of one on one time with Jennifer Zamboni of about 30 minutes.

LENGTH OF COMMITMENT:
Minimum one (1) year commitment.
